SPARK DESIGN CLUB
Who are we?
Our name is Spark Design Club but you can call us Spark. We design interactive displays that we place around campus. We enlist the help of fellow engineering students to build these displays and bring them to life.
Promote creativity and design on campus,
Create a fun and inspiring atmosphere for our peers,
Provide a platform for students to learn technical hands-on skills, such as using power tools, soldering, and circuitry building
Foster soft skills, such as communicating effectively in a team
ENGINEERING SOCIETY AWARD FOR GREAT GROWTH
Not just your average club
In 2011-2012 Spark was formed. With just only five executives, Spark managed to achieve recognition for their creativity within the Skule Community.
DISCOVERY CHANNEL APPEARANCE
First year, first appearance
Spark and its giant Skallops Tower made an appearance of the Discovery Channel during Gigantic Week. The Spark exec team, led by founder, Anmol Kaur, had the chance to showcase their work to the world.
Here are a few quick facts about the Spark Design Club from its inception. Be amazed, be sparked, be inspired.
Combining creativity with engineering
In 2012-2013, Spark was invited to participate in Toronto’s annual Nuit Blanche. Spark displayed its new-and-improved version of the Jansen Walker.
Because everything is awesome!
Our “What the F!” display marked our first workshop held as part of F!rosh Week. Since then, we have held two more workshops, UP house and Lego Blocks. Our workshops give soon-to-be engineers a chance to build something amazing!
